Trying to get some sleep in a badly ventilated, hot, noisy room can be very hard. And when you finally do fall asleep, the quality of sleep is likely to be poor. The following tips should help you get a good start on keeping things cool, fresh and quiet. Your Challenge: adjust your bedroom conditions for sleep. Keep it cool, fresh and quiet.
The Sugar Plum Sleep Co. Sleep Challenge | Just add flowers
With all of the pressure you face in your home, at your job, and even as a parent, it’s no wonder that we all sometimes need a break. There’s plenty of science that suggests creating a haven in your bedroom can lead to better sleep and calmer nights, but did you know that fresh flowers in your bedroom can actually positively affect your mood?
The Sugar Plum Sleep Co. Sleep Challenge | Clean Your Room
Providing a safe home for our family can be high on our priority list, but it’s easy to forget about hidden dangers in our environment. Throughout winter, your family probably spent quite a bit of time indoors, and with spring here (finally!), it’s a great time to thoroughly clean your room and tackle the dust and allergens that have accumulated over the last few months. What’s lurking in the nooks and crannies of your bedroom?
The Sugar Plum Sleep Co. Sleep Challenge | Declutter
Creating a restful sleep space starts with eliminating distractions in the bedroom. I’m a big fan of keeping clutter at bay in a child’s room to help maintain a calm and relaxing sleep environment. I think the same principles apply in our bedrooms. Clutter can restrict your ability to focus and process information. Clutter can also increase irritability and decrease productivity. Your challenge: organize, pair down, discard and donate to declutter your bedroom.
The Sugar Plum Sleep Co. Sleep Challenge | Tips to Help You Sleep Better
There is nothing more true than the saying: “If Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”
OK moms, it’s time to help you sleep better. Maybe your baby already sleeps well. Maybe your baby doesn’t sleep well. You could be a mom-to-be, a new mom or a veteran mom. It really doesn’t matter, because most of us (myself included) could use some fine tuning when it comes to our own personal sleep habits.
Tales from the Crib | Rebecca’s Sleep Story
Notice how this title didn’t include the word ‘success’. That’s because this is a post about me….and why I’m an only child. It’s ironic that I am an infant and child sleep coach because if you ask my parents they will tell you in no uncertain terms that as an infant, I did not sleep. Any we’re not talking short naps or bedtime struggles. My parents will tell you that I wouldn’t sleep unless I was in motion. Constant motion.

DIY Playroom Under the Stairs
I was looking through old photos this weekend and spotted this gem. It might not look like much, but I have a lot of memories from this little corner of our laundry room. Like any great play space, this area was fuelled by imagination. I spent many an hour pretending that this was my house and I carried out all of the familiar household duties that little girls dream of doing. Why laundry seemed like a glamourous task when I was 5, I don’t know. But I remember that my mom let me make it my own and she let me use her things. See that sweet patent leather bag? There isn’t a single traditional toy to be found.
Screen Time Before Bed – What Parents Should Know
We all have our bedtime routine, with our children, and with ourselves. It’s a mix between preparing for sleep and practicing good hygiene. These two elements are both very important for your children to learn. Your routine may look exactly like the one mentioned above, or you may have some variations or extra add-ins. If your routine is working then there is probably little need to change it. However, if you’re experiencing some difficulty around your child’s bedtime, or even falling asleep yourself, there may be a hidden culprit you haven’t considered yet.
